1938-2026
Alice I. Zimmerman, 87, of Brockway, PA, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Penn Highlands DuBois following a brief illness.
Born October 28, 1938, in Ridgway, PA, she was the daughter of the late Winslow and Isabel (Williams) Smith.
After graduating from Ridgway HS in 1956, she married the love of her life, the late James R. Zimmerman on October 12, 1957.
Alice was a devoted wife and mother who never missed an event, traveling often in support of her family. She could frequently be found cheering on her husband's sports teams and was a constant presence in her daughter's activities, including following the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps during the summer of 2000. She embraced the opportunity to travel, exploring much of the country, always open to new experiences, and even making the journey to Australia.
Alice served as secretary at Brockway Presbyterian Church for over 30 years, diligently supporting the church's daily life and its members before retiring at age 83. She was deeply involved in volunteering in church activities, helping at the library, and supporting educators at Brockway Elementary School. Throughout her life, she remained closely connected to the Brockway community.
She is survived by her adopted daughter, Michele (Daniel) Zimmerman of Melbourne, Australia; her sisters, Kathy (John) Myers and Elaine Laubach; her brother, Bruce Smith; along with many nieces and nephews.
Arrangement information will be published when it becomes available. Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
In honor of her love of reading, memorial donations may be made to the Mengle Memorial Library, Brockway, PA, or to an organization of the donor's choice that supports youth literacy, health, and well-being.
