Working Together, Standing Against Bullying

DuBois – Among the chaos that surrounds consolidation of the City of DuBois and Sandy Township, one board member is touting the good news and wishes to take a stand together for a common goal.

Sandy Township Supervisor Barry Abbott has been a voice speaking out on the good things happening in the area. At the Join Consolidation Board Meeting last week, he spoke highly of community events and consolidation.

“I think one of the things that we have to understand is these gentlemen have come together for the first time that I can remember, help me guys, I cannot remember the city and Sandy fire departments working together on a joint venture other than protecting our community through fires,” explained Abbott. “And for them to offer their services, I would like to see that as a good shot in the arm and give them all that opportunity. I think it’s a great way to kick off our celebration of becoming a joint city and it will show off our fire departments and how they can work together.”

While multiple groups were arguing over the DuBois Community Days, Abbott tried to mediate by suggesting more local events that could benefit the entire community.

He also took a stand on bullying and hatred, saying it was “time to turn the page” before it kills us. Abbot then proposed a challenge for everyone to begin fighting for the city and not each other.
