DUBOIS – DuBois and Sandy Township residents could see a tax increase for the first time since the late 2000’s, we break down why this could happen.
According to DuBois/Sandy Township Manager Ben Kafferlin, due to not increasing taxes since 2009 in addition to rising inflation, this has cost the municipalities over $5 million dollars in revenue.
While the City and Township are taking strategic approaches in consolidating jobs and cutting redundancy to save money, stagnant property tax income is no longer enough.
With the same tax rate today bringing in less value each year, lawmakers have worked hard to keep taxes low, but financial reality may soon demand a change.
