DUBOIS – The Consolidation of the City of DuBois and Sandy Township is less than seven months away. We look into what consolidation really means.
DuBois and Sandy Township Manager Ben Kafferlin explains that unlike a merger, consolidation will dismantle two municipalities to create an entirely new community. A long and tiring process for everyone involved.
“It’s an opportunity for a fresh start,“ explained Kafferlin. “It’s a lot of work.”
In addition, all ordinances, agreements, laws, and other permits will need to be rewritten and resubmitted as an entirely new community is made.
The new consolidated city emerges on January 5th.
