McKeesport, PA (AP) — Police in western Pennsylvania are searching for a man who they say shot an officer outside a police station while handcuffed.

The gunfire took place Sunday following the arrest of 22-year-old Koby Francis of McKeesport on a charge of violating a protection from abuse order.

Officers seized a firearm from his vehicle. Officials say when he was taken to the McKeesport Police station, an officer opened the car door and Francis, who had a second firearm, shot the officer three times in the neck and torso.

Francis fled on foot.

The officer is in stable condition.
