SNYDER TOWNSHIP – Dozens of Brockway area residents are speaking out against a proposed garbage transfer facility in Snyder Township.
Municipal Waste Landfill Application #101741, if approved, would construct a transit facility bringing trash from train to truck and off to the Greentree Landfill.
With the facility possibly opening in just four to six months Chuck Marchiori with the group a Noble Cause, who have been actively pushing against this proposition for almost a year, claiming that this will have a fallout of consequences from declining property values, traffic impediments, noise complaints, and possible environmental challenges.
“It’s stressing out our community, it’s already stressing people out,“ explained Marchiori. “It’ s causing grief already, we’re worried about it. We don’t want it in our community.
He also told us the best way for you to take action is to speak out.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will host a public meeting at the Brockwayville Depot October 9th at 5pm to gather community input on the proposed facility.
To provide testimony at the meeting, you must register at least 24 hours before the meeting. You can do this by calling DEP Manager Tom Decker at (814) 332-6615 or emailing at [email protected].
