Walking to Prevent Suicide this Weekend

SHARE NOW

DUBOIS – An annual gathering to help spread awareness and prevent suicide is this weekend.

Sunday marks the 15th year that survivors and community members impacted by suicide gather in DuBois to show support and spread resources and awareness.

Hosted by the Clearfield-Jefferson Suicide Prevention Team, the event typically sees numerous vendors and speakers from across the two counties in attendance.

According to the DuBois Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Director, Jodi August, this walk provides the community with a way to discuss suicide without the stigma surrounding the topic.

“It’s a subject near and dear to a lot of people’s hearts, and it’s a subject that’s kind of hard to talk about,“ explained August. “But suicide and mental health is very important to a lot of people in our community, and I just feel like this group does a wonderful job with education and help. And I just want to make sure people come out support the suicide prevention walk.”

The event will be held at the DuBois City Park at 1pm Sunday, you can register anytime at 1istoomany.org or at the walk itself.
