DuBois, PA – The Reitz Theater, under the direction of Lisa Rutherford, will present Wait Until Dark, written by Frederick Knott, on Feb. 14, 15, 20, 21, and 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
This show was performed once 20 years ago in DuBois. Lisa Rutherford, who is acting as a director for this show, played the lead role, Susy. She says she got advice from a blind man she met at the YMCA, who taught her how to act blind on-stage… so effectively that many people in the audience believed that she was truly blind!
Chuck Lukens also returns after 20 years away from DuBois for the same role he played then… the lead villain, Roat.
Listen to the full interview with Lisa Rutherford and Chuck Lukens, which was aired a week prior to opening night.
The opening night gal on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, will feature Valentine treats courtesy of North Crate & Co. They will be bringing accessories from their furniture store to display. Come and enjoy the offerings prior to the performance, and during the show’s intermission!
Wait Until Dark is being sponsored by Lucky Hawk and Real Equity, and is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
Tickets cost $13 for adults, and $11 for senior citizens and students.
Tickets are available at ReitzTheater.com, ACE Fix-It Hardware in DuBois, and at the Reitz Theater Box Office, which is open Monday and Friday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday 4 p.m.-7 p.m. and 1 hour prior to performances.

THE STORY: A sinister con man, Roat, and two ex-convicts, Mike and Carlino, are about to meet their match. They have traced the location of a mysterious doll, which they are much interested in, to the Greenwich Village apartment of Sam Hendrix and his blind wife, Susy. A deadly game of cat and mouse ensues. Susy knows the only way to play fair is by her rules, so when darkness falls she turns off all the lights… leaving her, as a blind woman, with the advantage.
