Vehicle Breakdown Leads to Immigration Arrest in Brookville

BROOKVILLE – A vehicle breakdown led Brookville police to the arrest of a man wanted on a immigration warrant Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle at the BFS Convenience Store along West Main Street.

When police arrived, the vehicle tried to leave, but a front tire fell off, disabling it.

The unnamed driver allegedly had no form of identification besides a passport from Nicaragua, the vehicle was also not registered in any police records.

Officers later learned the man had been wanted for the past three and a half years after allegedly illegally entering the United States by swimming across the Rio Grande.

Brookville Police say that ICE agents took the individual into custody.
