Pennsylvania – You only have a few days left to come up with the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for your sweetheart.

Relationship expert Dr. Laura Berman says, it really is the thought that counts.

She suggests, to find the perfect gift that your loved one will truly appreciate, figure out what “love language” your partner speaks and base your gift on that.

The Five Love Languages:

Receiving gifts – sneak a meaningful gift into their lunch bag or car, surprise them with flowers or chocolates delivered to their workplace, buy a special gift that they have been wanting for a while, create a photo album of your favorite photos together and leave it somewhere for them to find unexpectedly, make them a mix tape

Quality time – wander together in nature or take a walk through the city, go on a roadtrip and choose the perfect music, try a new restaurant together, get concert tickets for their favorite band, sign up for a class to learn a new skill together

Words of affirmation – write them an old-fashioned love letter, plan a scavenger hunt with things that they like or that relate to your relationship, serenade them with a song, fill a box with pieces of paper that say reasons why you love them

Acts of service – tackle a project they’ve been meaning to get to (such as cleaning out the garage), bring them breakfast in bed, provide a spa day or a gift certificate for something they can use (car wash, mani/pedi, house cleaning)

Physical touch – spend a night in giving them massages, prepare an aromatherapy bubble bath, start a new physical activity or hobby together (hiking, biking, rock climbing, martial arts), take a long walk through the city or countryside and hold hands

Nationwide shopping studies show the most common gifts include chocolates or other sweets, flowers, or a nice dinner out.
