BROOKVILLE – The preservation of Jefferson County history has been given two boosts by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
A $10,000 grant was awarded to the Jefferson County Historical Society to help preserve the Jefferson County Record Books Collection and the county’s original Naturalization Books.
The society inherited both collections from the Jefferson County Courthouse and Prothonotary’s office.
Another grant is paying for the installation of an historical marker at the location of the Pennsylvania Logging Railroad in Heath Township.
The site, on the west branch of Callen Run, is one of the earliest logging locomotive railroads in Pennsylvania.
