Ridgway, PA – Two men have died from their injuries after a vehicle lost control while speeding in Ridgway and struck a tree.

36-year-old Tony Eckert from St. Marys had been driving a 2011 Chevy Colorado pickup truck at an unsafe speed along Bingham Road in Ridgway early Sunday morning, around 12:30 a.m.

He lost control on a sharp curve, and the pickup truck went over an embankment, rolled onto the driver’s side, and slid into a tree.

Eckert and the front seat passenger, 33-year-old Kenneth Gasbarre from Ridgway, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

A backseat passenger, 21-year-old Annamarie Pounds from Johnsonburg, had minor injuries and was taken to Penn Highlands Elk.

No one in the vehicle had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

There is no word yet on funeral arrangements for Eckert or Gasbarre.
