Two Jailed for Penelec Theft

CLEARFIELD – Two men are behind bars for allegedly stealing over $10,000 dollars worth of wire from Penelec in 2024.

According to police, 48 year-old Jason Hoover and 37 year-old Barry Martell allegedly broke into a Penelec substation between November 21st and 25th last year, stealing almost $10,500 dollars worth of wire and spools.

After investigating the original incident, police learned that they allegedly scrapped the wire, a search of Hoover’s phone allegedly showed the stolen wire.

Both are now housed in the Clearfield County Jail where they face burglary, criminal trespass, and theft charges.
