Two injured, one seriously, in suspect I-80 DUI crash near Corsica

Union Township, PA – Two men were injured, one of them seriously, in a suspected DUI crash in Jefferson County.

It happened on Sunday afternoon, just before 3 p.m., on Interstate 80 westbound in Union Township, near the Corsica exit.

29-year-old Stephen Wensel from Corsica was driving his Nissan Pathfinder when he went off the road for unknown reasons, struck part of a bridge, and flipped the vehicle over onto its roof.

Wensel had minor injuries and was taken to Penn Highlands Brookville by ambulance.

His passenger, 31-year-old Dustin Frey from Tionesta, had serious injuries and had to be flown by STAT MedEvac to UMPC Altoona.

Wensel had not been wearing a seat belt, and it’s unknown whether Frey had been wearing one.

Wensel is suspected of driving under the influence at the time of the crash.
