BROOKVILLE – Two Brockway women have been jailed on charges connected to the fatal fentanyl overdose of a 46-year-old Brookville man.

According to court documents, 35-year-old Rebecca Guthrie, and 30-year-old Fatimah Guthrie are being accused of multiple drug crimes including providing the fentanyl which resulted in the death of Lee Rumbaugh.

Brookville Police say Rumbaugh was found unresponsive in a bedroom earlier this year, just an hour before he was pronounced dead.

Police allege that drugs and paraphernalia were found near Rumbaugh’s body, and a coroner’s report ruled that Rumbaugh’s death was due to a toxic mix of drugs.

A seven-month investigation into phone and social media messages, eyewitness accounts, and undercover drug purchases led to this week’s filing of charges against both Guthrie women.

They have been lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.
