During Brockway’s 58th Annual Fourth of July celebration, chaos erupted as two police officers were injured.
Officer Kyle Zents, intervening in a fight, broke his nose chasing a suspect. Despite the injury, he returned to duty that evening and even worked the Tour de Brockway.
Meanwhile, Officer Paul Brosky, directing post-fireworks traffic, was struck by a vehicle due to obscured visibility from lights. Brosky, hospitalized for observation, is now in concussion protocol.
Mayor Bill Hrinya praised emergency services and highlighted the dedication of underpaid officers, adding that despite these incidents, the day overall went smoothly.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
