Transformer blew in DuBois Sunday night, leaving some without power

DuBois, PA – Hundreds of people were without electricity for at least part of the night Sunday night after a transformer malfunctioned in DuBois.

It happened on DuBois Street, near the VFW and Ace Fix-It Hardware.

Although residents in that area of DuBois were without power until around 1 a.m., people in other sections of DuBois said their lights only flickered momentarily.

Many DuBois residents reported seeing a bright flash from the blown transformer that lit up the night sky, and several posted video of it online.

Here’s a view of a transformer that malfunctioned Sunday night in DuBois, causing power outages through part of the city. Although the transformer was on DuBois Street, you can see it in this video all the way from the Walmart parking lot!
