SHARE NOW

Perry Township, PA – A tractor trailer caught fire along Route 119 in Jefferson County but was quickly extinguished.

Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department says around 4:30 Thursday afternoon, a tractor trailer full of straw caught on fire west of Punxsutawney. The driver was able to get trailer unhooked from truck and moved out of way.

With the help from other local fire stations, they say they used almost 25,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire after it was off-loaded by equipment from neighbors.

Route 119 was shut down at the intersection with Route 85 while crews were on scene Thursday.
