Three people arrested for body dumped in Indiana County

SHARE NOW

Indiana County, PA – After several months of investigation, three people have been arrested in connection with the death of a man whose body was found dumped on the side of a roadway in Indiana County.

In late January, a road maintenance worker had found the body of 27-year-old Deshawn Cornelius Green-Brewster, a Philadelphia man who had been living in Johnstown.

The victim had been shot in the head and his body dumped in southern Indiana County.

Now police have arrested 28-year-old Dionte Jones, who was taken into custody in North Carolina. He says Green-Brewster had robbed him for his drugs and money, and Jones confronted the man and shot him in the head.

Two Johnstown women also face charges in the crime. 23-year-old Janayah Smith, a woman who had been living with Jones, faces charges of hindering the investigation and abuse of a corpse for attempting to hide the body. Her mother, 58-year-old Joyce Smith, also allegedly hindered the investigation.

Because the crime took place in multiple counties and Jones fled to another state, police departments across Pennsylvania and North Carolina have teamed up to solve the case and bring some closure.
