The Dimeling Hotel Coffee Shop may be making a comeback

CLEARFIELD — It’s been nearly 50 years since The Dimeling Hotel Coffee Shop in downtown Clearfield was open for business, but it may be poised for a future comeback.

The Mature Resources Area Agency on Aging is now in charge of operating the Dimeling building and is interested in bringing back the coffee shop.

Dimeling building manager Kathy Bell says the Area Agency on Aging wants to “Bring it back to its original grandeur and help the community be able to appreciate that space again, be it as a coffee shop, or a cyber café.”

The Dimeling Coffee Shop closed in 1977, and there is no official timeline on when it could be restored and reopened.

Bell says there is a lot of work to be done and the restoration price tag could be at least $250,000.

The Area Agency on Aging is looking into securing grants for the project, and a there will be a June 3rd fundraising dance.
