Sandy Twp. –
State Police have charged a Sykesville man, who was once Administrator and CEO of Christ the King Manor, with numerous felonies and misdemeanors for a racketeering scheme.
Samuel Zaffuto has been charged with 19 felonies and 17 misdemeanors in the case which was filed Friday in magisterial court.
According to the complaint, Christ the King Manor suffered more than $169,000 in losses due to Zaffuto’s fraudulent disbursements, corrupt business practices and racketeering between 2017 and 2019.
Zaffuto was placed on administrative leave in June 2019, and his employment was terminated one month later.
Christ the King Manor conducted an audit by independent certified accountants, and the findings uncovered six areas of criminal activity.
The investigation was then turned over to the State Police, and a forensic audit was conducted.
64-year old Zaffuto now awaits a preliminary hearing.
