Supporting Cancer Victims with Relay for Life

SHARE NOW

DuBois – Hundreds of memorial bags lined the Dubois City Park on Saturday, honoring the memory of all those who lost their battle against cancer as a part of the annual Relay for Life.

This year’s Relay for Life kicked off at 10 A.M. The event had close to ten vendors, and other teams and groups ready to raise funds for the American Cancer Society and support those affected by cancer.

Event runner and cancer survivor Eva McKee believes the Relay for Life means a lot to all victims of the deadly disease.

“We were given another chance to maybe do the things I’m doing, like fundraising, and being still here with your family.” McKee said. “We have bags here, lots of those are in memory of, so unfortunately those people aren’t here to celebrate with us. It’s about celebrating the survivorship that we all have.“

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, over 600,000 people die from cancer each year.
