Suplizio Defense Responds to Conflict Claims Over Attorney

UNDATED – The defense team for former DuBois City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio has responded to a request to disqualify one of his attorneys.

In February, federal prosecutors sought to remove defense attorney William Shaw Jr., claiming possible conflicts of interest.

In a response, the defense argued that no conflict exists as Shaw would not need to testify as a witness and his connection to former DuBois Police Chief Blane Clark was irrelevant as Shaw did not formally represent him.

A judge has not yet ruled on the matter.

Prosecutors have also filed a motion seeking permission to share tax return information with the defense as part of the discovery process. That motion is also pending.
