Clarion, PA – A suicidal man was safely taken into custody after a 3-hour standoff on a bridge in Clarion County yesterday.
The unnamed man was preparing to jump off of the Clarion River Bridge along Interstate 80 in Monroe Township around 2:15 p.m. Thursday.
I-80 was shut down for about three hours as police talked with the man.
They were able to take him into custody for his own safety.
The interstate opened back up around 5 p.m.
Traffic was heavily backed up yesterday afternoon as all vehicles, including large tractor-trailers, had to detour through nearby Route 322, Route 66, and Route 68.
