Stormwater Authority Explored

DUBOIS – DuBois officials are exploring the creation of a stormwater authority to help taxpayers while addressing aging infrastructure, flooding, and regulation requirements.

The system, if enacted, would establish a small monthly fee, based on how much runoff your property contributes estimated around $10 to $15 dollars, to help fund stormwater projects directly.

As HRG Vice President of Growth Adrienne Vicari says, it would help take those expenses out of the city’s general fund, lowering your taxes over time.

“What we’ve seen in over 50 municipalities that we’ve worked with across the state, is that the average residential property owner saves typically between 50 to 70/75 percent when stormwater is funded by a fee as opposed to being funded by a tax.“ explained Vicari

With more than 100 Pennsylvania communities already adopting similar models, if approved this would take around a year to implement.
