Someone impersonating officer in Lawrence Township, pulling over vehicles

Lawrence Township, PA – Someone was impersonating a police officer or firefighter in Clearfield County, and now real police officers are investigating and also reminding us what to do if we ever encounter someone we’re not sure is really an officer.

First, Lawrence Township Police are asking for any info you might know about a 2003 white Ford Explorer with an overhead blue light bar that was stopping vehicles or conducting traffic stops without authorization on Dec. 7.

The driver may possibly be a white man in his early 20s.

Secondly, know what to do if this happens to you.

If an unmarked car flashes a light at you and you are unsure if it is from a legitimate law enforcement officers, there are a few things you can do:

Wait until you get to a busy area (like a gas stations, business, or police station) before pulling over… never pull over on a quiet road or secluded area.

Call 911 and let them know you are being followed by an unmarked police car and that you plan to pull over as soon as you can safely do so. Give the dispatcher the make and model of the vehicle following you.
