Sigel man fires gun toward neighbor’s property, faces threat and assault charges

SHARE NOW

SIGEL — A 56-year-old Jefferson County man has been charged with assault and terroristic threats after allegedly shooting a handgun toward his neighbor’s property.

State Police say Douglas Valerio II of Sigel admits to firing seven rounds from his .45 caliber pistol last Friday, but claims he did so to vent his frustration, not to target his neighbors.

The neighbors reported that Valerio had been verbally abusive to them earlier that day, and that he shot the gun in their direction while they were in the driveway.

Valerio is currently free after posting a $50,000 bail bond.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 9th.
