SYKESVILLE – A close call over the weekend has prompted fire crews to remind you about the dangers of unattended outdoor burning.
On Saturday, first responders were dispatched to Sykesville for a shed fire that was threatening nearby homes. Upon arrival the shed was nearly burned to the ground and the flames were burning close to other houses.
Firefighters were quickly able to quell the blaze before it could spread.
Now, crews would like to remind you that if you’re burning anything outdoors – including leaves or yard debris – to always use a proper fire pit or burn barrel, and to never leave that fire unattended. They say that any fire no matter how small can turn into a dangerous situation.
