HARRISBURG – According to a federal report, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro will soon become the highest-paid governor in the United States.
During 2026, and after a 3.3% cost of living adjustment, Shapiro will be pulling in more than $253,000. Shapiro’s annual pay will exceed New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s $250,000.
Statistics provided by the U.S. Economic Development Administration show that Shapiro’s salary is far-above some governors of states with populations larger than Pennsylvania including Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, and Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis.
The average salary of U.S. governors, according to Business Insider, is $167,128.
