Several Tri-County area recreation, conservation projects receive state funding

HARRISBURG – Several Tri-County area recreation and conservation projects will be receiving funding from Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

Brookville Borough has been granted more than $390,000 for the rehabilitation of Walter Dick Memorial Park, including the installation of a pedestrian bridge.

In Elk County, the City of St. Marys will be using $250,000 to make improvements to Memorial Park, including the installation of new play equipment over safety surfaces; and Jones Township has been given more than $218,000 to further develop the Marvin Street Gateway Park.

Also, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is set to receive more than $62,000 for stream bank and habitat improvements in the Redbank Creek Watershed in Jefferson and Clearfield counties.

In all, more than $52-million in statewide investments were announced on Thursday.
