RIDGWAY — U.S. Senator Bob Casey was in Elk County Monday to make it official that a $400,000 grant has been awarded to the North Central PA Manufacturing Sector. The money comes from the Tech Hubs Strategy Development Grant program, and is intended to help reinforce the position of North Central Pennsylvania as a world leader in the pressed materials industry.
Casey said that one of the newer aspects of production within the powdered metal industry will be parts for electric vehicles.
Penn State DuBois will also be involved in the process. A portion of the grant will fund research, development, and use of advanced technologies on campus.
Casey called the grant and what it could accomplish a “victory, a win for the people of North Central Pennsylvania.”
