DUBOIS – Our area has been experiencing a recent uptick in school shooting threats, we spoke to those at DuBois area schools about what is being done to keep our children safe.
Superintendent of DuBois Area Schools Wendy Benton told us that safety is the district’s number one priority.
“One thing that we try to emphasize continuously is that safety is a shared responsibility,“ explained Superintendent Benton. “And it truly takes everyone in our community doing their part to ensure that not only our schools are safe, but our community is safe as well.”
She urges that if you know anything to contact the anonymous Safe-2-Say hotline for any matter that concerns school safety.
Mental health also plays a key factor in student lives. In hopes of tackling the issue, the school has the Hope Squad, a peer-to-peer suicide prevention group that aims at concurring mental health.
