REYNOLDSVILLE – A Reynoldsville man is in the Jefferson County Jail on charges of threatening and strangling a woman this week.

State Police say they arrested 69-year-old Gerald McElhinny early Monday morning after he allegedly pushed a woman to the floor multiple times and tried to strangle her by gripping her neck with both hands.

The victim also claims that McElhinny threatened to kill her and was holding a knife when he attacked her.

The bail for McElhinny has been set at $60,000, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 15th.
