PUNXSUTAWNEY – A Punxsutawney woman is facing charges after she allegedly lied to police about an assault.
According to police, 66 year-old Geraldine Smith came forward to the Punxsutawney Police Department on June 9th claiming she was assaulted by a man.
She claimed he gave her two black eyes, bruised ribs, and a head injury that required stitches. When asking EMS, they claimed that they responded to reports of a fall for Smith on May 31st leading to the injuries. Police also questioned the man who said Smith allegedly told him that she was going to make the false report after an argument in addition to a voice recording.
When questioning Smith she allegedly admitted to lying about the report. She is now facing falsification charges.
