PUNXSUTAWNEY – A Punxsutawney woman is facing assault charges after allegedly kicking an officer during a confrontation at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital Emergency Room.

On Wednesday, police were transporting 59 year-old Rayette James to the hospital after being arrested for public drunkenness.

Once at the hospital, police say James continued to act confrontational, eventually turning physically aggressive towards officers, striking one in the face and kicking another.

James is now at the Jefferson County Jail where she faces felony assault of a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness charges.
