Punxsutawney man holds up convenience store, faces robbery and conspiracy charges

PUNXSUTAWNEY — A Punxsutawney man is in the Jefferson County Jail charged with robbery and conspiracy after holding up a convenience store this week.

Punxsutawney Borough Police and State Police report that 38-year-old Steven Jankowski used a BB gun while robbing the N&T Convenience store of approximately $2,200 Tuesday night.

After police viewed the store’s surveillance footage they were able to track down and arrest Jankowski and a male juvenile about two hours later.

When questioned, Jankowski reportedly admitted to police that he robbed the store, but only did so to help the juvenile and his mother who had no money.

Jankowski has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 4th.

He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

The juvenile is facing identical charges and is in custody of juvenile probation.
