Punxsutawney Man Facing Charges for Allegedly Assaulting a Pregnant Woman

PUNXSUTAWNEY – A Punxsutawney man has been charged with allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman last Thursday.

On August 22nd the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department responded to reports of a disturbance at a Foundry Street residence.

After investigating, police discovered that 24 year-old Joshua L. Hamil allegedly was verbally abusive to a pregnant woman and allegedly threw a shoe that struck her in the side of the stomach during the altercation.

After the alleged assault the victim told police she tried to leave the residence when Hamil tried to block her exit. The woman said that she tapped the 24 year-old on the head to get him to move.

Hamil was charged with simple assault and harassment and released on a $5,000 dollar unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for September 5.
