Punxsutawney man faces more than a dozen charges after holding woman hostage in Altoona

ALTOONA — A Punxsutawney man is being held in the Blair County Prison without bail for allegedly holding a woman hostage in an Altoona home earlier this week.

Police say 21-year-old Anthony LaCass faces more than a dozen criminal charges including kidnapping, burglary, robbery, and terroristic threats.

LaCass allegedly broke into the South 10th Street home to take back money that he claimed had been stolen from him.

When police responded to the scene, LaCass was holding a female victim hostage at gunpoint in the bathroom.

Police were able to move into the residence, arrest LaCass, and free the victim unharmed.

Stolen cash, drug paraphernalia and nearly 200 grams of marijuana were found in a backpack LaCass had inside of the house.

It was also discovered that LaCass had previously been convicted of felony burglary in North Carolina.
