PUNXSUTAWNEY – Two Punxsutawney individuals are facing charges after an investigation revealed they were allegedly abusing two children.

All of this stems from a September 2024 investigation, where Child Youth Services visited 35 year-old Cory Hicks and 32 year-old Nakessa Shaffer’s residence unannounced.

The case worker allegedly visited when receiving reports of physical abuse. They then learned that the two children were allegedly hit by a leather belt from Hicks, while Shaffer was present. Authorities also allegedly discovered locks on the outside of the children’s rooms.

Now, both have been charged with endangering the welfare of children, Hicks is also facing simple assault charges.
