Possible Pay Increases for Future DuBois City Positions

DUBOIS – Salaries for the future consolidated City of DuBois was discussed by the Joint Board last week, with multiple proposals put forward.

City and Township Manager Shawn Arbaugh did some research into similar sized municipalities and proposed salaries of $10,000 dollars for the Mayor and $5,000 dollars for council members, treasure, and controller with no benefits for any party.

The proposition was delayed after Township Supervisor, Sam Mollica, questioned the Mayor’s role in the upcoming election. He claimed that the council should vote on one member to be appointed as mayor, similar to the Township’s supervisor.

“I think that by making the mayor a second position, you might lose qualified people that would be better off on council,” explained Mollica.

The board decided to delay any vote waiting for more information.
