Police calm down man during mental health crisis near Reynoldsville

Winslow Township, PA – Troopers were able to calm a man down after he took medication and had mental health issues in Jefferson County over the weekend.

State Police in DuBois were called out for a welfare check at a home along Burning Gas Well Road in Winslow Township near Reynoldsville just after 9 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the unnamed 56-year-old man refused to let anyone into the house. He was yelling out of the bedroom window with a knife while making suicidal statements.

He says he had taken 30 Ambien, a sleeping medication, beforehand.

Police were able to take the man into custody without incident.
