CLEARFIELD – A plea agreement was denied for a 31-year-old Clearfield County woman who is accused of stealing more than $6,700 from her employer last year.
Earlier this week, President Judge Frederic Ammerman rejected a guilty plea attempt to one misdemeanor theft charge by Tara Patel of Kylertown.
Ammerman called the plea attempt “significantly inadequate.”
Patel’s case will now be scheduled for trial in county court.
Between late-August and mid-September 2022, Patel allegedly stole the cash from a Clearfield fast food restaurant where she worked as a manager.
Police say Patel confessed to taking the money, claiming that she needed it to bail out her brother.
