Philipsburg’s Cold Stream Dam and Park receives over $100,000 in grant money

Philipsburg – The development of a small campground area at Philipsburg’s Cold Stream Dam and Park is getting a federal funding boost.

More than $111,000 in grant money was announced Wednesday, and it will be used to cover construction of a pedestrian walkway, boardwalk trail, observation areas, landscaping, and other site improvements.

Philipsburg’s code enforcement officer Tim Ryder said the proposed 10-site campground will be nestled in an area surrounded by walking trails, fishing, soccer fields and a playground.

Most of the development work will be done by Philipsburg Borough maintenance crews to save money.

Ryder is hopeful that the campground will be complete and open by spring 2023.
