Harrisburg, PA – As Gov. Tom Wolf ordered all non-life-sustaining businesses to close their physical locations in Pennsylvania, many workers are left wondering what they will do without a paycheck for these upcoming weeks.

Updated list of non-life-sustaining and life-sustaining businesses.

The official Pennsylvania government website has made some updates to their Unemployment or Workers’ Compensation section.

The one-week waiting period had been temporarily removed. They are also temporarily ignoring conditions which usually state that people on unemployment must fill out applications for jobs.

According to the PA government, you may be eligible for unemployment if:

  • Your employer temporarily closes or goes out of business because of COVID-19
  • Your employer reduces your hours because of COVID-19
  • You have been told not to work because your employer feels you might get or spread COVID-19
  • You have been told to quarantine or self-isolate, or live/work in a county under government-recommended mitigation efforts

You can learn more and file for unemployment online at the PA Unemployment website page.

If your COVID-19 claim is denied, you can file a petition with the Workers’ Compensation Office of Adjudication.
