Pennsylvania to receive more than $450 million from CVS and Walgreens in opioid crisis lawsuit

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania will receive more than $450 million from CVS and Walgreens as part of a national settlement of opioid crisis lawsuits.

Over the next 15 years, the Keystone state will be getting a total of $2.2 billion from companies connected with the pharmaceutical industry.

Nearly all of the settlement funds must be used by Pennsylvania to address the opioid crisis with prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction services.

In addition to the financial settlements, pharmacies at CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart have agreed to monitor, report, and share information about suspicious activity related to opioid prescriptions.
