DuBois, PA – Students at DuBois Area School District might be able to go maskless starting Dec. 6, but it all depends on how it plays out legally statewide.
DuBois Area School District will be following along with the statewide mask mandate until it’s lifted, but a recent ruling by a Pennsylvania judge could mean that masks would only be required until Dec. 4.
After that, Monday, Dec. 6, schools would be able to allow families to make their own decisions about masking, which DASD says they plan to do.
The ruling by Commonwealth Court Judge Christine Fizzano Cannon comes a week after her court threw out the statewide mask mandate, which was later appealed by Gov. Wolf.
Gov. Tom Wolf had originally said that he would lift the school masking mandate in January, but it seems like it could be earlier than that.

We heard from DuBois Area School District Solicitor Carl Beard at Thursday’s school board meeting, who said they are preparing for the potential of no mask mandate on Dec. 4 but we’ll have to wait and see.
