Pennsylvania State Police warn Pennsylvanians of new phone scam

Harrisburg – The Pennsylvania State Police are warning of a new phone scam.

Area residents have been receiving calls from someone claiming to be a state police investigating trooper and is threatening arrest on outstanding warrants unless a specific amount of bail money is paid.

This is a scam.

State police do not ask for payments by phone, and troopers are strictly prohibited from seeking any kind of monetary considerations.

The scammer also asks to verify personal information such as name, date of birth, Social Security number, and credit card or bank account numbers.

If you receive a call like this, do not provide any personal or financial information, but contact your local state police station with as much information about the call as soon as possible.
