Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission announces new area code

Harrisburg – You’ll have to get used to a new area code if your picking up the phone…that’s If you’re getting a new phone number in the 814 area code, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission says the number 582 is now in use and it will overlay the current area code.

The 814 area code was established in 1947 and is one of Pennsylvania’s four original area codes and covers all or parts of 27 counties.
