Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office announces additional charges against suspended city manager

DUBOIS – Suspended DuBois City Manager Herm Suplizio was charged with 13 more felonies and 10 misdemeanors Wednesday.

The latest charges, filed by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, are in addition to prior allegations of Suplizio making over $620,000 in fraudulent transactions with city and non-profit organization funds while he was actively serving as the city manager.

Wednesday’s charges against Suplizio, heard in front of Justice Carmine Prestia from Centre County, are that he stole over $369,000 from public accounts, committed tax fraud with public accounts totaling over $181,000, and that he made an additional $550,000 in fraudulent transactions with public accounts.

Bail was set at $100,000, and Suplizio was ordered to surrender his passport

According to an affidavit from Wednesday’s hearing, it was suspended City Manager Herm Suplizio.

In September 2022, a United Way employee discovered four lock boxes in the ceiling of the United Way building.

Three months later, the money was no longer in the lock boxes.

Then, in May 2023, DuBois Solicitor Toni Cherry reportedly delivered nearly $93,000 of cash in a gift bag to the City of DuBois.

Cherry said the money was from Community Fund and it had been at the United Way building.
