Penn State Skill Games Blight Study in DuBois

DUBOIS – After months of organizing, a class at Penn State will have students researching the effects of skill games, and their blighted nature.

The course will address concerns of skill games in a broad array of topics, such as, motivations, attitudes, prevalence, and impact on local businesses, residents, and users of the machines.

This is being done in part by DuBois’ Main Street Program, Downtown DuBois, with their Executive Director Shirley Dahrouge leading the charge.

“We’re excited for this partnership,“ explained Dahrouge. “And to do some of the marketing research behind it. Because that’s one of the issues with legislation is there has been no research to back the claims.”

Dahrouge has told us that she will be working alongside the class, Penn State’s main campus, and you at home to fully complete this research.
